2 Dudes Chattin Pats

We just finished recording an episode so I felt inclined to write about it. Fresh on the mind and all that sniz. So let me write down what we talked about!

I think that the Patriots are going to win this game. I want to open this by saying that if that’s the only reason you’re here, and if so you are welcome. But here is WHY I think they’re going to win. Jerod Mayo in that first game instilled a lot of hope into the local area and certainly through the team. Insanely evident by all the videos I’ve watched. Jabrill Peppers walking down the tunnel after the game shouting “THATS WHAT THE FUCK WE DO” had me ready to attempt a gainer. One that would surely end my life but it would probably look so cool. Jerod installed a new culture and it looked like the whole team bought in. So much so the long snapper knocked the ball out on a return. But enough on the Bengals, lets chat about Seattle.

Are the Seahawks a better defense? For sure. I’ve never thought about the Bengals and thought defensive powerhouse. The Seahawks on the other hand historically tear shit up on defense. Not to say this current group is anything like the Legion of Boom but I do think they’re better than the Bengals defense. But their offense is worse than the Bengals. I feel like it’s a decent step down. They aren’t bottom of the barrel but Geno Smith has never scared me. So here’s my plan as to how the Patriots win on Sunday.

WHAT THE OFFENSE NEEDS TO DO

Rhamondre Stevenson is criminally underrated. As Poulin said during the episode he’s the only Patriot worth drafting for your fantasy team in like 4 years. He went off for 120 yards and a tuddy and made it look easy. He’s always made it look easy. In my opinion you do what you did when you had Legarette Blount. Pound that shit. All. Damn. Day. Just let the line be bullies and put some confidence in them. They’re gonna be doubted and rightfully so (on paper) but if they’re able to repeat anything like last week then we could see Rhamondre doubling his touchdowns this week.

If Seattle is able to contain Rhamondre then I think this is the week you let Jacoby just sling the piss out of it. They’re at home. The crowd should be behind them. Just let the dude launch it. Javon Baker 50/50 ball city. Or maybe this the game that Tyquan Thornton finally pops off? Just give the ball to Rhamondre.

WHAT THE DEFENSE NEEDS TO DO

I’m gonna keep this simple. Put Gonzo on DK. Put the Joneses on Lockette and Smith-Njigba. Make them run it. The Patriots run defense is absurd at times and I don’t see Sunday being any different. Geno is easy to fluster. I know he’s going through this late career resurgence but at the end of the day he’s still ole glass jaw Geno. I don’t think he’s capable of making things up other than running for it and our linebackers are more than fast enough to snag him. So if you make them run it and it doesn’t work they’re gonna make Geno try and win it with his arm. Which leads right into Poulin’s hot take that Gonzo has a pick-6 and I think he’s right. Geno is gonna force something stupid and the Patriots are gonna capitalize.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I think this is going to be a fun game to watch. For both teams. I think there’s gonna be some big plays but all in all I think it’s gonna be the Rhamondre show. I expect him to snag 2 tuddys and the Patriots win 17-10. Late game garbage time Slye field goal and the Patriots start this new regime 2-0.
